Databases

We can put together database applications of most any size for you, from asset tracking in a one-person office, to Web sites serving hordes of concurrent users. We can do e-commerce-style security if you want, as well.

Since we use open-source software whenever possible, typically these can be done with zero software-licensing cost. Our specialty is PostgreSQL, which offers extensive stored-procedure capabilities to facilitate secure application development. We've also dealt with MySQL, and even Microsoft SQL Server.

We can also maintain database applications for you, and even reverse-engineer some schemas, if you need data from a proprietary database-backed application in a form other than what it exports.

Former Projects

• Secure extranet website for delivery of code to customers, and integration with the client's ClearQuest bug tracking system. Customers could query, open, edit and close their trouble tickets, including attachments. Used PostgreSQL, e-commerce-style security to keep customers from seeing one anothers' data, and Perl/CGI for the customer Web interface and client management Web interface. Desktop-class Linux server handles 10 simultaneous users with no perceptible load.
• Management of SQL Server databases, backing client's ClearQuest bug tracking system.
• Reverse-engineering of SQL Server-backed proprietary testcase tracking application's schema. Application only reported in PDF, and client needed queriable data for reporting.
